Quick recovery after binge eating
Did you fall off the food wagon and binge? Overeating makes you feel gassy and bloated. But here’s a way to feel great again. To get your sexy back on track after binge eating.
If you are like me, you sometimes let temptation win. Face it – you need a little naughty from time to time. It’s dull to always be on your best behavior.
Holidays are especially naughty-inducing. You see tables covered with rounds of triple cream brie, fresh loaves of panettone, dark chocolate truffles, tiramisu…need I say more?
The day after can be brutal – if you’re not careful. The key is to not beat yourself up for binge eating. You take a tumble, get up and brush the dirt – or snow – off your knees.
Even after a night of naughty binge eating, there’s a silver lining. So if you thought there was no hope left to get your sexy back – read on. These are things you can do to get back on track after binge eating.
Guzzle Gallons of Water
I always drink 2 to 4 16-oz. glasses of water first thing in the morning after a night of naughty binge eating. But don’t stop there. Drink a minimum of 8 glasses throughout your day. It may seem excessive, but trust me on this. Water is an elixir because it:
- flushes out toxins, which you’re sure to have after a night of binging.
- helps restore vitamins and minerals
- balances the enzymes in your gut, which you need to digest food properly.
When your vitamins, minerals, and digestive enzymes get out of balance, gas and bloating can drive you crazy!
Eat Tons of Fruit & Veggies
Fibre-rich fruit and veggies also work to get rid of the bloating that comes with overeating. In fact, they promote digestion and help you feel full.
When you grocery shop the day after binge eating, buy:
- Dark-colored vegetables – which have the most fibre. Examples are carrots, beets, yams, broccoli, spinach, collard greens, Swiss chard – all great choices.
Apples – the peel is particularly fibre-rich, so buy organic apples and eat the peel.
Bananas – not only high in fibre but also potassium, which you may lack if you drink much alcohol.
Berries – raspberries are particularly fibre-rich.
Tropical fruits – for example mango, persimmon, and guava are high in fibre.
Eat Simple Meals
Light, simple meals are ideal when you are getting back on track after binging. Think steamed veggies and small portions of wild fish, tofu, or organic poultry. This will help you prevent your digestion from overworking.
Sip Warm Tea Between Meals
You’re likely to feel bloated and gassy the day after binge eating. A common household cure is herbal tea. Here’s what to do:
Make yourself tea out of sliced ginger root or dried peppermint leaves.
You’ll help muscles in your digestive tract to relax.
Then gas will easily tiptoe through it and be gone.
There you have it. After binge eating you’ll want to quickly recover and get your sexy back in the process. Eat large amounts of fresh veggies and fruit, and keep your meals light and simple. Warm ginger or peppermint tea between meals will kick the bloating and gas to the curb. And remember water – the elixir!
